Information on the Memorandum of Understanding between the Baku Initiative Group and the Institute for Advanced International Studies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Burkina Faso
On July 11, 2026, a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation was signed in our capital between the Baku Initiative Group (BIG) and the "Institute for Advanced International Studies" of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Burkina Faso.
This cooperation was evaluated as an important step in expanding the geography of BIG's activities towards Africa. While BIG previously signed such documents with political parties and political movements of various countries, this time it has started cooperation with a state body of a country.
The document envisions the development of result-oriented cooperation with leading research institutes, think tanks, and civil society organizations of African countries, as well as strengthening scientific and practical ties and implementing joint initiatives between BIG and the countries of the Global South.
Within the framework of cooperation, it is planned to prepare joint analytical reports and policy papers on the problems created by colonialism on the African continent, neocolonial governance, exploitation of natural resources, mechanisms of economic dependence, and issues of reparations, as well as to deliver them to the international community. The parties agreed on expanding cooperation and putting forward joint initiatives within the framework of international organizations in these directions.
Within the framework of cooperation, it is also planned to hold regular dialogues, joint research projects, and annual international conferences on the topics of decolonization and neocolonialism. It was noted that these initiatives will contribute to a wider awareness of realities related to Africa, as well as crimes against humanity committed so far by major powers.
The Memorandum envisions the participation of BIG experts in events held in African countries. In addition, exchange and training programs for young researchers, as well as other academic activities, are planned to be implemented.
